For this poster advertising the UCB Summer Blockbuster Extravaganza in 4-D, we had an interesting design challenge: deliberately replicate “bad design.”
The show was formatted like a 4-D show at a theme park, and the client wanted the design to match the cheesy style of a poster you might find at Universal advertising such a ride. When all was said and done, it ended up being a lot of fun to emulate this style. We got to use kitschy fonts and bold early 90s colors. Even the yellow motion lines around the “4-D” fit the corny ride posters of yesteryear.
As a bonus, we also got to design the logo for the show’s fictional sponsor Gigadyne Technologies, a Cyberdyne-esque conglomerate that factored into the plot of the show.
