WATCHMEN Trailer + Remix

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

As a superhero geek, if there’s one movie out there that I’m biting my fingernails about, it’s WATCHMEN. You don’t have to be a fanboy to know that the project’s had all kinds of trouble, mostly centering around the source material’s creator, Alan Moore, distancing himself entirely from the project.

That being said, Zack Snyder’s put together a pretty awesome trailer, even if it tells you absolutely nothing about the movie’s plot. If anything, it’s an extended montage of shots taken directly from the graphic novel, which is certainly reassuring, but not necessarily the linchpin to convincing me that it’s going to be a great movie.

While we wait for the next trailer to hit, take a look at this remix I threw together. A couple years ago, my friend Cameron read Watchmen and wrote a song inspired by the Dr. Manhattan Mars scene. I decided to sync up his song with the new trailer, and it actually works out pretty well.

First of May, and you know what that means…

Muxtape perfects the digital mixtape

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

A new service I’ve been really digging lately is Muxtape, a project from artist/webdesigner Justin Ouelette. Muxtape is a free service that allows users to upload a digital mixtape, comprised of up to 12 mp3s. Once made, you can send your muxtape link around to friends. It’ll pop up on their screen as a beautifully simple web page.

Check out the sweet morning music muxtape I just made!

Share your favorite muxtapes in the comments below!

Note: Unfortunately, muxtape only accepts mp3s, so the m4a files from your iTunes won’t cut it.

The Riddler SINGS!

Thursday, April 24th, 2008

This is the holy grail of late-night internet findings

While google image searching The Riddler so I could composite his body with the head of a fish, I found out that Frank Gorshin (master impressionist/The Riddler) had a brief stint as a singer.

But wait, it gets better: not only did he release a double-sided record, but one of the songs is performed AS The Riddler!

Turn your dreams into a reality and give it a listen:

**Note: I really had to stop myself from starting this post with, “Riddle me this?”

Great video from Kelly Meador and Daniel Elwing over at impactist.com.  I really dig the song and the wonderful hand drawn animation.
